IIT Madras offeres MTech scholarships



Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras invites applications for M.Tech Scholarships for students pursuing their Master of Technology program offered in various disciplines for academic session 2014.
Scholarship Details:
  1. Financial assistance in the form of Half-Time Teaching Assistantship (HTTA) at the rate of Rs 8, 000 pm (tenable for a maximum period of 24 months) will be awarded to Indian nationals doing the M.Tech programs, subject to institute rules.
  2. HTTA students are required to assist the department for 8 hours of work per week related to academic activities of the department such as laboratory demonstration, tutorials, evaluation of assignments, test papers, seminars, research projects etc. 
Eligibility: Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture from educational institutions approved by AICTE/Government.

About IIT Madras
In 1956, the German Government offered technical assistance for establishing an institute of higher education in engineering in India. The first Indo-German agreement in Bonn, West Germany for the establishment of the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras was signed in 1959 and the Institute was formally inaugurated in 1959 by Prof. Humayun Kabir, Union Minister for Scientific Research and Cultural Affairs.
