Why going to IIT BOMBAY a Dream of Every IIT JEE ASPIRANT ?

IIT-Bombay continues to be the top choice for the best of the young brains in the country. The institute has retained its position as the most sought-after IIT in the country, with Delhi and Chennai coming a distant second and third. A number of factors have been responsible for this, ranging from importance given to streams over geography, from placement records to newer short-term courses on offer, tell students. Of the top 100 rankers in JEE-Advanced 2014, almost all have opted for IIT-B computer science as their first choice. But 58 were allotted seats at IIT-B in computer science in the first round, followed by Delhi, where 36 of the top 100 have been admitted (see box). You can now Change branches midway in IITs

Changing branches midway through the course has become the norm of many IITians. IITs also are on consonance with this immerging trend to help their students' persue studies in the stream of their choice, reported a daily. Dean, academics, IIT-Madras, K. Ramamurthy said that 10 per cent of the total number of students in a steam are allowed to shift branches. Linear ranking system of students based on their performance has made the competition so steep that the students are allotted branches in institutes based on their scores. Irrespective of the norms followed, the branches are left with vacancies because of students leaving. Therefore, to make use of the vacancies, IIT Madras has allowed the students to change branch if they want so. IIT Madras offeres MTech scholarships

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras  invites applications for M.Tech Scholarships for students pursuing their Master of Technology program offered in various disciplines for academic session 2014. Scholarship Details: Financial assistance in the form of Half-Time Teaching Assistantship (HTTA) at the rate of Rs 8, 000 pm (tenable for a maximum period of 24 months) will be awarded to Indian nationals doing the M.Tech programs, subject to institute rules. HTTA students are required to assist the department for 8 hours of work per week related to academic activities of the department such as laboratory demonstration, tutorials, evaluation of assignments, test papers, seminars, research projects etc.  Eligibility:  Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture from educational institutions approved by AICTE/Government. IIT-Madras introduces Centre for Technology and Policy at its campus

IIT Madras with the idea of empowering the youth to identify technology gaps in public policies, has introduced a Centre for Technology and Policy (CTaP) at its campus. This move will enable the youth to contribute to critical decisions in the country in areas like food, health, telecom and education. The newly opened center at the institute may also introduce a full programme on public policy in the next three to five years. A separate staff will work for the research center. Two senior fellow researchers have already been hired of which one has taken up the role of senior mentor informed Prof V R Muraleedharan, head of CTaP. The institute is yet to take grants from URD ministry and is funding the center by its own at present. The institute will work on research papers and reports on public policies. Students from IIT-Madras win ‘ET In Campus Quiz 2014’ in city

Patience , confidence and intelligent thinking made  IIT-Madras  the  champions  at 'ET In Campus Quiz 2014' held at VIT University's Chennai campus on Wednesday.  More than180 teams participated in the quiz conducted by the Economic Times in association with VIT Business School in Chennai. Knocking out the other teams in the Chennai leg of the quiz, Institute for Financial Management and Research emerged as the first runner-up, followed by SSN College of Engineering.  After the preliminary rounds, six teams, including Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College, Easwari Engineering College, and VIT University, made it to the finals.  Lloyd Saldanha from Grey Caps India Pvt Ltd was the Quiz Master for the day.
