IIT-Guwahati readies for Alcheringa Atlantis annual festival

Popular guitarist of the American glam metal band 'Nitro', Michael Angelo Batio will perform at IIT-Guwahati during the institute's annual cultural fest - Alcheringa Atlantis - to be held on it premises from January 30 to February 2. Organizers are expecting Batio, considered to be one of the fastest guitarists in the world, to draw a huge crowd.
"We are sure that the event will make the headlines in Guwahati. The organizers expect crowds to swell on February 2 as the inventor of the 'double guitar' and the 'quad guitar' takes the stage," said Utkarsh Gupta, this year's coordinator of Alcheringa. Udit Singh, the fest's media head, said, "During the day, there will be a number of pro-shows like BETTY, an alternative rock group from New York City. Activist-entertainer BETTY is known for its performance at rallies on equality and women's rights." He added that the Femina Miss India auditions will be an added attraction this year.
The fest sees over 70 events in a span of four days, and this year, the organizers have selected the legend of Atlantis as its theme. "The theme provokes a sense of adventure," said Ashish Nayak, organizing secretary. Each of the four nights of Alcheringa will correspond to a different genre - Saaz (The Classical Night), Blitzkrieg (The Surprise Night), Crescendo (The Bollywood Night) and Juggernaut (The Rock Night).
Organizers said the opening night will have a performance by fest The Villalobos Brothers, a group of virtuoso violinists, songwriters and composers. "Undying Inc and Lucid Recess are in this year's lineup. They will play on 'The Red Bull Tour Bus' on January 31," Utkarsh said.

The Most Brilliant Students of Kota Ever

Anuj Nagpal(AIR 190):  This guy was the most intelligent person I ever met. In hostel, he was one of the most fun loving guys, he only used to do the assignments of mathematics (only because it was taught to us by the director of the coaching). Though I was not in his hostel but my closest friends were in his hostel and used to tell me all the stuff they did at night. Shubham Tulsiani says This is quite a common practice among institutes so I would like to address the trends too apart from the personal experiences and I'll also write on one aspect the question didn't explicitly ask  - offers  before  JEE Pre-JEE (class 12th) I had a couple of 'offers' - Some people from Akash Institute came over to my place to 'gift' me books to help me prepare for JEE. All I had to do was - guess what - yes, sign a form ! I was amazed at how insistent they were and despite me saying I didnt need the books and wouldn't sign,  they made me keep the books. They then visited / called me about 5 more times to get my signature (until I finally returned the unused books on their last visit and told my hostel guard to not allow them back).
