IIM-I students to help cops improve traffic system

A survey to collect data about seven aspects of Indore traffic and suggest solutions.
Aiming at helping Indore traffic police to improve the traffic setup of the city, over 72 IIM-I students have taken up a survey to study seven different aspects of Indore traffic over a span of few months.
They will be sharing the information with the Indore police.

On Wednesday, PGP 1 students of IIM-Indore conducted a survey at Shivaji Vatika BRTS.
In one of the seven such topics, students are surveying the psychology of public to understand the various reasons for compliance and non-compliance of traffic rules.

A group of students visited Central Kotwali Police Station to collect information about the installation of traffic lights on Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor.

Later, the students carried out a survey to know view of the commuters on the traffic pattern.

“The agenda of our survey is to understand the reason behind the difference in compliance of traffic rules in metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai and Indore,” said PGP 1 student Dibya Sunder Sharma.

The questionnaire prepared by the students is based on the daily commuting experiences of public, difficulties that they face and their interpersonal communication with traffic regulators.

“At present, we are conducting a short-term survey and the main study will be carried out in the month of January,” said another PGP 1 student Shayantan Pal.

So far, students have carried out the survey at C21 Mall and Regal Square. The IIM-I students said that these surveys help them to modify their questionnaire and help get better information for their study.

“Based on the responses that we have registered in our survey so far, we modify our questions as per the need and requirement,” said PGP 1 student against Rahul Dutt.
