IIT-D, BSES Yamuna Power Limited to continue collaboration

Indian Institute of Technology -Delhi and BSES Yamuna Power Limited will continue their collaboration for next three years for the development of consumer friendly technologies.
CEO of BYPL Arvind Gujral and Dr Anil Wali, Managing Director of Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) - a society established by IIT-Delhi for enhancing industry - academia interactions and cutting edge research signed a three-year agreement, a statement from BYPL said.
The agreement was renewed after the success of the initial agreement between the two organisations.
The researches led to the development of consumer friendly technologies like the MIDAS (Modular Integrated Distribution Automation System), REAP (Renewable Energy Assisted Pump) and DRONA - a simulator for power discom operations, it said.
"This collaboration will continue to focus on how to improve the value proposition for the consumers by leveraging the next-level - SMART technology for the power distribution business.
"So far, the association had been more focused on developing innovative products, but this time around, the collaboration would also focus on network design and management with a view to further improving the quality of power supply," said Gujral.
The collaboration will further aid BYPL's efforts in reducing its aggregate technical and commercial losses and improve the quality of its power supply.
"The ecosystem for dynamic industry-academia interface has to be fostered. This collaboration symbolises our continuing commitment to relate with business in a value- accretive partnership - one that is both long-term and trust-based. We hope our engagement with BYPL would enable knowledge sharing and technological innovations," said Wali, Managing Director, FITT.
For smooth execution of the tie-up, both BYPL and IIT- Delhi would appoint a Principal Project Investigator each, to coordinate the respective scope of work.
