Online counselling for JEE(Advance) course begins
After the declaration of Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced-2013 results on Friday, the online counselling for the successful students began from Saturday. The students can choose their choice of IIT campus and the course they want to study.
Majority of the students have preferred pursuing BTech from IIT-Mumbai, Delhi followed by Kanpur and Madras whereas the course streams which have become favourites for them are Electrical, Mechanical and Computer Science as students see immense scope in these subjects.
Prof Phalguni Gupta, Chairman, IIT-JEE Kanpur zone, said that the first seat allotment will be done on July 2. Document verification for OBC and physical disability category will be done on July 4 and 5 followed by SC and ST category students on July 6. On July 7 and 8, the students of general category will be called for document verification.
Prof Gupta said that the students of the OBC category will have to produce caste certificate till July 8. He also informed that the successful students will have to report to their respective IITs on July 20 and 21 and can get their registration done by July 23 and 24. The classes will commence from July 27.
The students coming to the IITs will have to bring along medical certificate, marksheets of class X and XII, the admit cards of JEE Mains and JEE Advanced and the score card of the two exams and the fee demand draft.
It is worth mentioning here that the online counselling will go on till June 30. The students according to their All India Rank have to lock their choice.
The students are required to click on a link provided to them for locking their preferred course on www.jee.iid.ac.in.
The counselling will enable the IITs to fill nearly 10,000 seats in 16 campuses. The students of general and OBC category who will be taking admission in IITs will have to submit a fee of Rs 60,000 in BTech first year. The students of SC/ST category will have to submit Rs 20,000 as fee for the same course.
