President to felicitate IIT-I students

Even as
preparations for the
Indian Institute of
Technology (IIT)
Indore's first ever
convocation are under
way, the institute has
declared names of its
students who
performed well in the
last four years.
Ankit Goyal of electrical
engineering branch will
receive the President of
India gold medal at the
hands of President of
India, Dr Pranab
Mukherjee. He will be
conferred with the
award based on his
academic and overall
performance.
The institute's silver
medal will be conferred
on three students --
Abhishek, Anamika
Patel and Reema
Saxena of computer
science and engineering,
electrical engineering
and mechanical
engineering branches
respectively.
Students whose
projects were adjudged
the best BTech project
will also be awarded on
the occasion. Anant
Paliwal will be given
medal for his work on
low cost human
interface based
teaching aids. Sarfraz

Keshav Kumar and
Bharath Bhushan will
share award on their

fabrication and testing
of the experimental
setup for abrasive jet
machining (AJM)
process.
Confusion still
prevails over
convocation venue
Indian Institute of
Technology (IIT)
Indore's first ever
convocation ceremony
will be held on June 8.
However, confusion
over the venue of the
convocation ceremony
still prevails. President
of India, Dr Pranab
Mukherjee will preside
over the programme.
Rashtrapati Bhavan has
given security clearance
to the Simrol site,
where the permanent
campus has to come
up, institute sources
said. Prior to the
President's visit
security and vigilance
cell of the Rashtrapati
Bhavan clearance for his
visit is must. The
institute first choice for
holding the ceremony
was Simrol. It had
university teaching
department and PACL
campus in the back-up
plan if the Simrol
security plan is rejected
by the President's
office.
