8,000 crack IIT-JEE (Main) in Jharkhand
Engineering aspirants from
Jharkhand on Tuesday
proved their mettle
with around 8,000
students cracking the
first IIT-JEE (Main)
examination organized
by the Central Board of
Secondary Education
(CBSE).
Around 45,000 students
from the state had
appeared in the first
IIT-JEE which was
earlier known as All
India Engineering
Entrance Examination
(AIEEE) has been
renamed as the JEE
(main) from this year.
Ashish Anand, director
of Persistence
Education Pvt Ltd, said,
"Approximately 45,000
students sat for the
exam from the state
and according to the
latest figures available
8,000 students qualified
for the advance test,
the next phase of
examination."
The marks of the IIT-
JEE (Main) will decide
admission to centrally-
funded institutions like
IIT, National Institute
of Technology and
Indian Institutes of
Information
Technology . The
advance test will be
held on June 2.
