Modi-Kejriwal battle divides IIT BHU students

Image
The fight between AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for supremacy in this temple town has divided students of IIT, Varanasi into two camps who will campaign for their chosen candidate in their own ways. "I would have supported Kejriwal, but I was not happy with the way he performed in Delhi. He should have proved himself. Running a nation involves a lot of things which includes your economic and other policies. Modi is a tested brand and he has shown his mettle in Gujarat," says 21-year-old Archit Bindal. Bindal, an electrical branch student at the IIT whose establishment is intimately linked with that of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), will along with other Modi-supporter friends campaign in his own way. He, however, maintains that if given a choice between AAP and BJP in Delhi, he would prefer the new party and give it a second chance. Preetam Machi (22), another Modi supporter, a fourth year mining student sa...

IIT-BHU students have a dedicated site for internship

The race for a place in the corporate world is getting fiercer by the day. Students fresh out of college find it even hard to get a good internship, leave alone a decent job. But to ease the pressure of students, two undergraduates from Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU) have formed an online portal 'www.internlelo.com' which contains all the information about internship options available in various fields. The portal primarily provides all the information about internship opportunities in different fields including details of duration of internship, stipend, eligibility and other necessary information. At the same time it also has information about workshops, conferences, campus ambassador programs, technical and management events organised in college campuses or companies across the globe. The young entrepreneurs who have conceptualized the idea are pre-incubated at Technology Business Incubator (TBI) at IIT-BHU for further supervision...

IIT and NIT colleges in India

"Engineers Make the World" – reads the bumper sticker on a midsize car driven by a person in his mid twenties. Needless to say that the owner of this automobile is an Engineer by education and profession. Why is Engineering considered to be one of the best career options today? There are several parts to this answer. Let’s start with the sheer number of opportunities available for engineering graduates today. Irrespective of their specialization – like Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, engineers command a large percentage of the jobs that are available today. What makes Engineers click? We asked a senior executive of a large business house that recruits engineers in hundreds every year. The answer – "They know how to think sequentially, in a structured manner". Of course this answer does not take away the value of the technical content that is taught over a four-year period. It is just that it is taken for granted. There are thousands of Enginee...
