IIT JEE Girl Aspirants can now clear IIT-JEE with ‘Udaan'

cbseWith a goal of enabling more number of girls joining the engineering colleges, CBSE has now come forward to help 1,000 girl students per year to prepare for the IIT-JEE. Girls from all boards, and not just CBSE are to be benefited with this initiative of CBSE, which is known as Udaan. Girl students from various boards of class 11th and 12th shall be selected and shall be provided free guidance and assistance in preparing for IIT-JEE entrance examination.

 Criteria of CBSE for selecting the eligible students for free IIT-JEE preparation
 With this novel step taken by CBSE, to help more number of girls prepare for JEE, the criteria of selection shall be based on the weekly test scores of some of the selected girl students and their scored points shall be redeemed as fees in any of the IITs or NITs. CBSE Chairman, Vineet Joshi said, “Student scoring the highest can make maximum points and earn enough of money to pay about 100% of her fees if given admission into any IITs or NITs.

Benefits from the ‘Udaan’ initiative
Benefits from the ‘Udaan’ initiativeUnder this initiative called ‘Udaan’ CBSE shall be offering the girl students free of cost, online and offline assistance. Selected girl students shall also be given tablets with some of the vital contents preloaded in it along with several tutorials, study materials and assessments. The progress of the students shall also be recorded and the feedback shall also be given to their parents. There shall be several interactive session to be taken place with the parents and peers of these selected girl students. A helpline is also being initiated by CBSE to clear the doubts of these girl students which shall help them in a better IIT preparation.

“As per the statistics of number of students taking admissions in the engineering colleges, 77% are boys and mere 23% are girls. With this initiative of CBSE we expect more number of girls turning up for the entrance test.” said CBSE Chairman, Vineet Joshi.

Several principals and teachers are being appointed as coordinators in every state. “School principals and teachers are to be coordinated with for this initiative of CBSE, to ensure more number of girls coming up and the deserving students get an opportunity to get benefited” quoted by K Unnikrishnan, one such coordinators in the state of Kerala.
Under the program, Udaan, CBSE has appointed several principals and teachers as coordinators in each state. “We will be coordinating with school principals and ensure that deserving girls in Kerala benefit,” K Unnikrishnan, one of the three coordinators in Kerala.
