PnA Law writs IIT JEE again over Sibal brainchild procedure

PnA Law Offices advised engineering Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) candidate Arnav Ohri in challenging the government assessment process, introduced by Kapil Sibal, for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes in top Indian institutes including the IITs and the NITs.
Ohri has brought a writ before the Delhi high court arguing that the “normalisation procedure” which gives 40 per cent weightage to a candidate’s senior secondary board marks while deciding his or her all India rank in the JEE, was arbitrary and unconstitutional because of the existence of several boards in India with different curriculums and marking systems.
The normalisation procedure is being adopted for the first time in the academic year 2013-14.
PnA Law co-founding partner Aritra Das and Rashi Bansal acted for Ohri in the Delhi HC, which yesterday issued notices to the HRD ministry, the Central Board of Secondary Education, the JEE Apex Board, and the JEE Interface Group.
Another JEE candidate had challenged the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in the Delhi high court in May, to force it to disclose the exam’s answer key. A day after that writ was mentioned, the key was made available by the CBSE for Rs 500.
Out of the 12.5 lakh students selected to appear for the JEE mains, out of whom 1.5 lakh were eligible to appear for the advanced exam, less than 10,000 made the grade this year.

The Most Brilliant Students of Kota Ever

Anuj Nagpal(AIR 190):  This guy was the most intelligent person I ever met. In hostel, he was one of the most fun loving guys, he only used to do the assignments of mathematics (only because it was taught to us by the director of the coaching). Though I was not in his hostel but my closest friends were in his hostel and used to tell me all the stuff they did at night. Late night chats, discussion about random things (which had no relation with JEE at all). How much You can get by Selling your IIT JEE RANK ??

Shubham Tulsiani says This is quite a common practice among institutes so I would like to address the trends too apart from the personal experiences and I'll also write on one aspect the question didn't explicitly ask  - offers  before  JEE Pre-JEE (class 12th) I had a couple of 'offers' - Some people from Akash Institute came over to my place to 'gift' me books to help me prepare for JEE. All I had to do was - guess what - yes, sign a form ! I was amazed at how insistent they were and despite me saying I didnt need the books and wouldn't sign,  they made me keep the books. They then visited / called me about 5 more times to get my signature (until I finally returned the unused books on their last visit and told my hostel guard to not allow them back).
